Work Experience

Overview

Background

The work experience certificate offered by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), which is part of Cambridge Assessment, gives students the opportunity to take part in organised and accredited work placements. The work placements are arranged by Placement Organisers, which are typically language schools or other training organisations. They have extensive contacts with companies and other organisations that offer work experience and internship opportunities in a wide variety of fields such as office work, graphic design, law, hotel and catering and banking.

CIE inspects and accredits Placement Organisers to ensure that they have high quality services, administrative systems and work placements, so that students can be sure they will benefit from properly organised work experience opportunity.

A CIE-accredited Placement Organiser can also enter students for the Cambridge Certificate in Work Experience. The certificate is internationally recognised and of particular value when students apply for employment.

Thousands of students have achieved their Certificate in Work Experience. There are accredited Placement Organisers in Europe, America and Australia. As more students demand added value to their courses, work-related qualifications and an overseas experience that will benefit their future careers, the CIE work experience programme is becoming an increasingly popular choice for overseas students studying in the UK and other English speaking countries.
