Learners following this syllabus focus on problem-solving design activities which involve practical, manipulative work using a range of materials. As a result, they learn about design and graphics, the use of different materials (plastics, wood and metals) and about the practical processes involved in workmanship and construction. The course is designed to develop technical and manipulative skills, enabling learners to understand how these skills can be used. They also learn about the possible hazards associated with practical workshop activities, thereby encouraging safe working habits.
