Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum Framework
The Lower Secondary Curriculum Framework identifies a set of learning objectives for English, Mathematics and Science for each year of lower secondary education (stages 7 to 9). It forms the core of the Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme and:
- provides natural progression from primary education through the three years of lower secondary education
- provides a structure that focuses on what students should be able to do at the end of each stage
- covers all learning objectives assessed in Cambridge Checkpoint - providing the option of using Cambridge Checkpoint tests, which are externally set and marked
- provides excellent preparation for candidates progressing to IGCSE or O Level courses.

Lower Secondary Teacher Support Resources
The Lower Secondary Programme includes a range of support materials to help teachers plan and deliver the programme. A dedicated Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme teacher support website provides access to the curriculum frameworks, schemes of work, administration information and the progression tests as well as the analysis tool.
Because we work closely with publishing partners, CIE can recommend text books, work books and other teaching resources that closely match the learning outcomes of the Lower Secondary Curriculum Framework. Schools can buy these resources separately.
