Cambridge Outlook 12 (3443Kb)
Vietnamese education officials are consulting with us to learn more about international education and its role in national education systems.
Responding to their interest, we held a seminar on international education in Hanoi in February 2009. More than 60 leading education professionals attended the seminar, including representatives from the Vietnamese Department of Education and Training (DOET), and principals and teachers from schools across the country.
Cambridge’s Director of Assessment Services, Diane Palmer and Cambridge’s Representative for Vietnam, Stefanie Leong were keynote speakers at the event. They described Cambridge’s whole approach to education: from qualifications and assessment services through to professional development for teachers. Mrs Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, Deputy Chairperson of Hanoi’s People’s Committee and Deputy Mayor of Hanoi, also spoke about the importance of international education and opportunities for Vietnamese students.
Cambridge has now signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Education and Training (DOET) in Vietnam which will open up greater communication between the two bodies. The MoU was signed at Cambridge's offices in April 2009, during a visit to Cambridge by a delegation from the DOET in Vietnam, and Senior Officials of the Hanoi People’s Committee.
Stefanie Leong, Cambridge’s Regional Representative for Vietnam, was present at the signing. She said: ‘The Memorandum of Understanding is a sign of the respect that governments and schools have for Cambridge. It is certainly a positive move, especially for students in Vietnam. I am now looking forward to working more closely with the DOET and schools in the region.
