Understanding and preparing for results

We release results via CIE Direct and then follow up with hard-copy statements of results through the post. The statement of results shows the syllabus the candidate was entered for and the grades that have been awarded. Results day can be hectic so it helps if you prepare.

• Check with your IT department that all the systems you need will be available on and around results days. Check that you can access CIE Direct and the Candidate Results Service.
• Book a room for distributing results.
• If you need to, organise other members of staff to help you distribute the results.

Make sure your candidates know:

• what time to arrive and where to go to get their results
• what to bring with them (for example you may want private candidates to bring some photo ID)
• what to do if they need someone else to collect their results
• about any alternative methods for getting their results.

Candidate access to results

We have a website that candidates can use to view their results. You can control which of your candidates get access to this site via CIE Direct. To find out more about this go to Ask CIE and type Candidate Results into the search box.

Enquiries about results

We offer a number of enquiries about results services. A fee is charged for each service.

Certificates, certifying statements, verification of results

We send you your certificates up to eight weeks after provisional results are released. This is to allow time for us to resolve any enquiries about results. The certificates confirm candidates' results as final.

Candidates can apply to Cambridge if they would like their results to be verified or for a certifying statement (an official document from us to show the grades they achieved in a particular exam series). You can download the forms for these services from the right-hand side of the page.

Priority results information

If you need your provisional results to be sent straight to a particular institution complete and send us the form on the right-hand side of the page. We will send the provisional statement of results to your chosen educational institution on the day that results are released. Results are produced using the name given for the candidate at the time of their exam.

Results for group awards

You need to be aware of the grading system for group awards to handle any queries from your candidates when they see their statements of results. See the relevant sections of the Cambridge Guide to Making Entries for more information. This guide is available to download from CIE Direct.

Download and complete the Cambridge Pre-U Diploma Application form (pdf) for candidates that want to apply for the Cambridge Pre-U Diploma by substituting up to two accredited level 3 syllabuses, from other exam boards, for Cambridge Pre-U Principal Syllabuses.

The application must be submitted by the Centre at which the candidate sat the Cambridge Pre-U Global Perspectives and Research (GPR) and Principal Subjects exams. We will accept applications after the outcome of any result enquiries for up to 13 months.
