New Regional Manager for CIE in Western Europe

05 June 2009

Tim Lakin

Tim Lakin – CIE Regional Manager for Western Europe – joined CIE’s European team in January 2009. He is responsible for developing and managing business activity within Western Europe.

After graduating from the University of Stirling with a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA), specialising in Marketing, Tim gained extensive commercial and managerial experience working for 12 years within the media and advertising industry.

He then moved to Spain with his family and spent the next seven years teaching Business Studies at an International College in Xabia before joining CIE.

Tim says his experience has given him a unique perspective into how schools operate, and the day-to-day issues that schools and teachers can encounter.

'My first six months at CIE have been wonderful,' he says. 'I am using my extensive experience in education to enhance our existing relationships with our Centres. I am also helping to develop opportunities in the region which will provide an unrivalled quality assessment for years to come.'

He adds: 'This has been an exciting time to join CIE as it continues to expand within Europe in both the State and Private sector. Despite the economic climate, demand for quality assessment continues to surpass expectations, as we continue to sign up new Centres across the region. In addition, it is also seen as a priority that we support our existing Cambridge Centres in their efforts during these difficult times. This has been my focus to date and will continue to be. I am excited about the future of CIE in Western Europe, and proud to be a part of our ongoing partnership strategy with schools in the region.'

Tim joins colleagues Ann Gibson, Regional Manager, Europe and Barrie Wiggins, Regional Representative, Spain and Portugal.
