Over 80 award certificates have been handed out to exceptional Cambridge students at the first-ever Brilliance in South Africa celebrations. The awards have recognised the talent of Cambridge students in the June and November 2008 Cambridge international examination sessions.
Students were awarded their certificates for the following categories; Top in the World for the Cambridge IGCSE results in both sessions; Top in the World for the Cambridge International A/AS Levels across both sessions, Top in South Africa for Cambridge IGCSE results in both sessions, Top in South Africa for Cambridge International A/AS Levels in both sessions.
CIE's Regional Representative in South Africa, Patti Borman said the success of students in the Republic was an inspiration, and that CIE was committed to working in partnership with South African schools to provide an unparalleled international curriculum.
The Brilliance in South Africa awards certificates will be distributed by individual Cambridge schools in the Republic. Students have been notified of their successes.
Ms Borman said: "The academic brilliance demonstrated by these students is wonderful to see. These high achievers have attracted press coverage, and CIE is delighted that their commitment, hard work and success is being recognised and celebrated throughout the country. CIE would like to congratulate each and every one of these Cambridge students on their success, and we wish them the very best in their future careers."
David Hunter, Principal at the International School of Cape Town (ISCT) - a Cambridge school said he was very proud of his students' outstanding results in the Brilliance Awards.
"These are amazing achievements and we congratulate them all on their top marks. For a small school such as ours, to achieve such great results is most encouraging. These awards demonstrate the very high standards we have here, and will help attract bright local and international pupils."
