A two-day introductory level workshop for new teachers of Cambridge AS/A Level Mathematics, Economics and Chemistry was held in Selangor.
Mathematics, Economics and Chemistry are three of the top 5 Cambridge International subjects taught at A Level across the Asia Pacific region, and so demand for teacher support for these subjects is always high.
Following similar, highly successful workshop sessions in Jakarta, CIE examiners met in Selangor to run the two-day workshops, focusing on developing the skills of those who had been teaching Cambridge Syllabuses for more than a year.
Over 90 delegates representing schools from all corners of Malaysia met at Taylor's University College for two days of specially tailored workshops. Once again the accent was on supporting teachers to teach Cambridge syllabuses effectively and providing them with specific guidance on how to prepare students for their examinations.
Topics covered included:
Delegate feedback from both the Jakarta and Selangor sessions has been extremely positive with many delegates commenting on the relevance of the course to their teaching. As ever, the opportunity to share and compare best with others from a wide variety of teaching situations was cited as a very valuable benefit.
CIE would like to extend its thanks to the staff ACG Senior College, Raffles International Christian School and Taylor's University College for their warm welcomes and the opportunity to use their facilities.
