Recognition > Report on AICE program student performance at University of Florida from Bill Kolb, UF Director of Admissions.
The 30 students included in this study graduated from a Florida high school Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) program in 1999, 2000, 2001 and attended the University of Florida the year after high school graduation.
The average first year GPA was 3.46
1. The range was from 2.5 to 4.0.
2. There were only 4 of the 30 who had less than a 3.0 GPA in their first year. Our average first year GPA is about 2.9.
3. Three of the thirty had perfect 4.0’s in their first year.
We have looked at various acceleration mechanism prior to AICE coming to Florida. The first time we compared the first year GPA’s were:
I.B. 3.08
A.P 3.02
D.E. 2.65
No acceleration 2.60
The second time the results were
A.P. 3.12
I.B. 3.10
D.E. 2.75
No acceleration 2.63
As is evident, the 3.46 GPA of AICE students in their first year exceeds each of these groups.
