Teaching and learning
Candidates’ work that is internally marked by teachers in your school needs to be moderated by Cambridge. Moderation is a process to check that candidates across all our schools have been judged against the same standards. To do this we ask you to send us samples of candidates' work.
Sampling arrangements vary depending on the component. Use our samples database to check:

If you work in a UK Centre, for the majority of coursework components, we select the candidates whose work you need to include in your sample. The list of candidates whose work you need to include in your sample will be in the ‘My Messages’ section of CIE Direct approximately two working days after we have received and processed your internally assessed marks.
Once you have checked the sampling requirements in the samples database, you need to pack your samples correctly and send them to us with a copy of your internally assessed marks and the relevant forms before the deadline. More information about packing and despatching samples is in Part 3 of the Cambridge Administrative Guide.
You can download copies of the course work identification and coursework return labels from the right hand side of the page.
We moderate/examine a range of components, for example, speaking tests and coursework, where the evidence you need to submit may include digital files, such as music recordings, speaking tests, video and photographs. If you need to submit digital files you must make sure they can be accessed and viewed or heard by our moderators/examiners. Download our guidance document Submitting digital files from the right-hand side of the page for more information.

We will normally return coursework samples after we have issued results and certificates. We may keep some items of coursework for research, exhibition, archive or educational purposes.
We charge a fee per component to return Cambridge IGCSE Art & Design work (0400/01 and 02). To apply for the return of Cambridge IGCSE Art & Design work please complete and return ‘Teacher Assessment – Form 5’, which is available from the right-hand side of the page.
If you have candidates taking any of our Global Perspectives syllabuses, you will need to upload either externally assessed work or internally assessed samples of work to the Cambridge Secure Exchange, also known as MOVEit.
Download the guidance from the right hand side of the page to find out how to prepare the work for submission and how to submit it through the Cambridge Secure Exchange.
Once you have submitted the work our examiners and moderators log in to the Cambridge Secure Exchange, download the work and start marking or moderating it.
